Lower Lee Vining Campground sits just a couple miles outside of the town of Lee Vining below the Tioga Crest.

The campground has 51 basic sites, with only a table, fire pit and food locker. All sites are given strictly on a first come, first serve basis.

While some sites sit along the dirt road in (which is smoother than the paved road leading to the campground itself), most are in the grove of trees on a loop road deeper into camp. And while Lee Vining Creek runs right past camp, it is pretty cold and fast moving, and not really a feature of the campground. Though there are a couple sites near enough to the creek that you'll get the sound of streaming water in your camp during your stay.

Campers are asked to pay at the Forest Service info board at the camp's entrance. A host is on site.

There is no water at Lower Lee Vining Campground and one vault toilet building serves the entire campground.

The campground is open when Highway 120 is open. Highway 120 generally closes after the first big snow of the season and remains closed until seasonal conditions warm up again.
