Along UT-128 northeast of Moab there are many beautiful features and hiking opportunities including Castle Valley, Negro Bill Canyon, and Onion Creek Canyon. One of the most accessible and spectacular spots is the Fisher Towers. Managed by the BLM, this hiking spot has well maintained trails that lead deep into the area surrounding the towers. It is possible to admire the towers that rise 1,000 feet over the floor of Professor Valley right from the small parking lot or after just a short hike up the trail. The trail is quite steep in spots and involves a lot of up-and-down hiking. The hike to the base of the Titan, the tallest tower, is 3 miles round trip, and it is a 4.5-mile round trip hike to the trail’s end with a panoramic view of the entire area. There is a small campground at the site that is suitable for tents only and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
