Barn Trail

The Barn Trail is one of several hiking trails within Van Sickle Bi State Park which straddles the California Nevada border just behind Heavenly Village.

At 1.5 miles total distance out and back, the trail is a short hike with a burst of elevation gain. While the first section curves and switches back up the contours of the side of the mountain, passing a scenic boulder stack along the way, the second half of this trail generally follows a straight line beneath the cables of the Heavenly Gondola, ultimately coming to an end at an intersection with another trail.

While the Barn Trail itself offers a good out and back that will get the heartrate up a bit, it might be a bit more enjoyable if making it only part of a larger hike or loop on trails with Van Sickle Bi State Park. Or just following the trail four tenths of a mile to the boulder stack a climb the tall rock pile and take in the views of the lake and the Sierra Nevada lining it.

An interpretive sign and several parking spaces are located at the trailhead beside the barn building. Bathrooms are also located here.

Van Sickle Bi State Park is open from sunrise to sunset daily from May through October.
