This route, at just over 17 miles, travels between Boulder Canyon Trailhead and the summit of Reyes Peak. Boulder Canyon Trailhead sits just off Highway 33 at Ozena Fire Station. The trail is a steep climb up to the peak, and can be approached as a day-trip or as an overnight trip, with a stop at Pine Mountain Campground (reservation required at reservation.gov). Note that most of Boulder Canyon Trail is exposed. The route reaches Pine Mountain Campground near mile 5.3, and continues along Reyes Peak Road for around two miles to reach Reyes Peak Trailhead. The peak’s summit is less than a mile from the trailhead. This route is an out-and-back, so the summit will be the turn-around point for this trip. To continue further, a singletrack trail continues on to Haddock Mountain.

It is extremely important to note that trail conditions in Los Padres vary drastically from season to season and year to year.
