Picnic Rock is a short hike that leads to a rocky outcropping with a stellar view of Lake Tahoe below.

The trail begins from the Brockway Summit parking area and trailhead off Highway 267. Use caution when crossing the road as this is a busy highway.

From here you’ll follow the Tahoe Rim Trail as it steadily ascends through the forest. The trail is nice, smooth and well maintained. At just past the 1 mile mark you’ll come to a signed junction. Turn left toward Picnic Rock.

One last climb leads to the namesake rock outcrop.

Kids and adults alike will enjoy exploring the area, with many rocks to climb and enjoy. Of course the view down to Lake Tahoe below is the highlight, with many great photo ops available.

Once you’ve finished enjoying the view, return the way you came back to the trailhead.
