The Tuolumne Meadows Loop is a 5.8 mile loop trail made up of several smaller sections of trail throughout this area of Yosemite Naitonal Park.
Beginning near the Tuolumne Meadows Lodge area, the trail circles a sizable section of the Tuolumne River and accesses or passes nearby several other areas of interest, including the lodge, Tuolumne River Bridges, Tuolumne Meadows Campground, Tuolumne Meadows Visitor Center, the Soda Springs area, and the Lembert Dome picnicking area. While the trail quality and signage varies by the section you're at, overall it remains very clear single track. Due to inconsistent signage, hikers should have navigational aid for this one.
A large number of other trails and popular hikes branch off from this loop path, however this loop remains fairly level, with only around 300' of total elevation gain over the course. As the trail can be accessed from visitor centers, lodges, campgrounds and general parking areas, hikers can expect to encounter a number of other people along the trail.
Picturesque views await those who embark on hiking this route. Views in the clear valley crossings near the foot bridges are particularly scenic. Water, along with snacks and food for sale is available at the lodge building, there are several areas where vault toilets are present along the hike.
As part of Yosemite National Park, this trail is subject to park rules and entry fees, along with high elevation seasonal closures due to winter conditions. Visitors should check the park website for up to date details.
