The Burn Canyon Trail System consists of about 14 miles of single-track trail for hikers, equestrians, and mountain bikers. The area is located just west of Norwood and can be accessed by a smooth gravel road (AA42 Road/Norwood Burn Road) that should be passible in any vehicle. There are a couple of possible starting points: a small lower trailhead at the bottom of McKee Draw (access to McKee Draw and Flat Iron Loop), the large main upper trailhead a mile past (access to all trails), and roadside access 1.5 mile further (access to Cedar Post and Hideout Canyon Loops, high clearance 4x4 recommended).

The Hideout Canyon Loop offers what is supposedly the most challenging loop in the trail system, but is still a fairly easy hiking or biking experience. The trail is best accessed from the road past the main trailhead, but only with a high clearance vehicle. From the road you’ll follow the signed side trail to the start of the loop.

The loop passes through high desert terrain with sagebrush, and some small juniper and pine trees. You will have some good views, including of Burn Canyon and the distant La Sal Mountains of Utah.

The trail is well signed and makes a loop. You can also connect it with the Cedar Post Trail to form a longer hike.
