Galena Falls is a small but gorgeous waterfall located on the north side of Lake Tahoe, near Mount Rose. The waterfall is accessed by an easy 5.2 mile (round trip) hike that begins at the Mount Rose Summit Trailhead. Just don’t expect much solitude, as this is a very popular hike.

From the large trailhead off Mount Rose Highway, follow the Tahoe Rim Trail as it leads away from the road. The hiking is easy, although with a slight bit of elevation gain initially.

The trail flattens soon, and you’ll have views toward Mount Rose.

At roughly the 2.4 mile mark you’ll come to the main attraction - Galena Falls. You can walk right to the base of the small falls, get some great photos, and even dunk your head to cool off in the mist.

Optionally, you may choose to hike the short switchbacks to the top of the falls.

Once you’ve had your fill, return the way you came.
