The Whitefish Creek Trail begins from the Yoran/Trapper Trailhead near Shelter Cove on Odell Lake. Highlights of the trail include lovely Trapper and Whitefish Creeks, as well as Diamond View Lake.

Beginning from the trailhead you’ll enter the Diamond Peak Wilderness (and need to fill out a free, self issue wilderness permit here). The trail then quickly comes to a junction - stay left.

From here you’ll gradually gain elevation as the trail follows beautiful Trapper Creek through the forest. Continue along until eventually leaving the creek and coming to Diamond View Lake. This is the highlight of the hike - a picturesque lake with a stunning view of Diamond Peak. At 5 miles in, the lake makes for a great turnaround point (if day hiking). There is also some good camping here if overnighting.

If you choose to continue along the Whitefish Creek Trail you’ll begin to gradually descend. Soon the namesake Whitefish Creek will appear and you’ll follow near it as the trail passes through a small burn area.

The hike comes to an end at Whitefish Horse Camp near Crescent Lake.
