Situated on the Willamette River, the 26-acre George Rogers City Park is Lake Oswego’s “premier downtown space.” The city’s first community park is located on the former site of the Oregon Iron Company. The Iron Furnace, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, still stands at the park.
The George Rogers City Park site includes two baseball fields, a soccer field, walking trails, a boat ramp on the Willamette River, a memorial garden area, restrooms, an extensive playground and two tennis courts. Two large, structured shelters at the park provide picnic tables, barbeque pits and capacity for up to 70 people. During the summer month, the park's beach and shoreline turns into a sun bathers and swimmers Mecca, drawing families and kids from throughout Lake Oswego and the surrounding neighborhoods.
