The Emma Matilda and Two Ocean Lake Loop is a long and moderately challenging hike located in Grand Teton National Park. This loop travels around the southern shore of Emma Matilda Lake and the northern shore of Two Ocean Lake. This hike is 14.3 miles long and gains over 1,400 feet of elevation.

This hike begins at the Jackson Lake Lodge parking lot. There are many parking spaces here. Begin by following signs for Christian Pond Trail and pass under Teton Park Rd. After 0.1 miles, you will reach a junction and go right. You will now hike along the western edge of Christian Pond. After 0.6 miles of hiking through coniferous trees, you will reach a junction and go left. 0.5 miles further down the trail, you will come to another junction and turn right onto the Emma Matilda Loop Trail.

Travel along the trail of 0.4 miles before reaching Lookout Rock. This cliff will provide you a wonderful view of Emma Matilda Lake. Continue hiking along the Emma Matilda Loop Trail. You will have periodic views of the lake and the Teton Range. After 4.6 miles, you will have traveled around to the northeast side of Emma Matilda Lake. You will encounter a junction here and go right. Hike on this trail for 1 mile before reaching Two Ocean Lake Trailhead.

You will now be on the eastern end of Two Ocean Lake. Head north on Two Ocean Lake Trail. This section of trail offers intermittent views of the Teton Range as you travel through coniferous trees, aspen groves, and open meadows. This is a great place to see wildflowers. After hiking for 3.6 miles, you will be on the western end of Two Ocean Lake. You will also come to a junction and head right.  Just 0.2 miles later, you will encounter another junction and head right onto Bug Canyon Trail.

Stay on Bug Canyon Trail for 0.9 miles before coming to an old road. Follow this road for 0.8 miles before continuing onto Christian Pond Spur Trail. After 0.3 miles on this trail, you will come to a junction and head right onto Christian Pond Loop Trail. Stay on the Christian Pond Loop Trail for 0.8 miles before heading right to go under Teton Park Rd and return to the trailhead.

The Emma Matilda and Two Ocean Lake Loop is best hiked in the spring, summer, and fall. It is $35 for a one-week vehicle pass to get into Grand Teton National Park. Dogs are not allowed on this trail. Portions of this trail are shared with horseback riders. The Emma Matilda and Two Ocean Lake Loop is a nice, long hike that avoids the crowds of the more traveled areas of Grand Teton National Park.
