Twin Peaks is a prominent high point on the western side of Lake Tahoe. The hike to the summit is primarily on trail, with just the final portion featuring an easy but fun scramble to the top. There are a couple of different ways to access Twin Peaks, the most common being via the Tahoe Rim Trail, as described here.

Begin from the trailhead off Ward Creek Boulevard. The trail is flat and easy hiking to begin. You’ll then cross Ward Creek and begin gradually gaining elevation. An open meadow area provides a great view of the Twin Peaks above.

The Tahoe Rim Trail switchbacks gradually up to gain a wide ridge. The trail is beautiful, smooth, and easy hiking.

Continue climbing until you reach the signed junction to Twin Peaks - turn right. Follow the trail until the talus begins, then pick your route up to the summit. Its an easy talus hop/scramble to the summit.

The summit is spectacular, and even a bit airy with exposure depending on where you stand. There is a benchmark and register at the summit. Enjoy the fantastic 360 degree views. If you wish to also bag the western Twin Peak you can, otherwise return the way you came.
