Fortune Rocks Beach is a 2-mile span of white sand beach that runs from the community of Biddeford Pool to the community of Fortune Rocks. This is a popular family beach because the soft white sand is a welcome cushion for summer sunbathers, and the gentle sloping foreshore makes wading into the waves good for small children. The beach is also a popular place for surfing, bodyboarding, and other wave sports. During the summer months, lifeguards are stationed across the beach. Also note that only a couple of restrooms are provided at the parking areas. The are no shower facilities provided.
There are two public parking areas for Fortune Rocks Beach. One is at the southernmost end along Fortune Rocks Road, and the other is a lot at the northern end off of Gilbert Place Road (Gil Boucher Park). Parking is by permit only. Permits run $20.00 a day for a non-resident and can be obtained at the City Clerk’s office, the police station, and from a parking attendant at Gil Boucher Park depending on weather and availability. Note that the non-resident permits allows parking at the Gil Boucher Park lot from only noon until 5:00 p.m.
