Whiskey Run Beach is an easy access area in between Seven Devils State Recreation Site and Bullards Beach State Park. With long stretches of sandy beach, it’s a nice, out-of-the-way spot for those seeking less crowded spaces, but be warned, this area is also open to motor vehicles.
Whiskey Run Beach was once a popular mining spot during the mid-1800s gold rush, but now the area is more popular with beachcombers. The path from the parking area to the beach is short and easy to follow. If you head north for less than a mile you’ll reach Five Mile Point, an outcropping of rocks and some offshore islands with resting seabirds and hauled out harbor seals napping in the sunshine.
There are no amenities at this beach access point. Be sure to check the tides before heading out on a long walk – the rocks around Five Mile Point are usually passable, but they may require some scrambling during high tides.
