As you walk through the massive wood doors you're greeted by huge wooden pillars and floor-to-ceiling windows that offer incredible views of the surrounding landscape. You're immediately whisked back in time and imagine what life was like back when the lodge was originally built. You wonder at the process it took to build this immaculate building before the invention of today's construction equipment. You settle in by a large stone fireplace and let your mind wander to the stories of days past, wishing you could pour this lodge a drink and listen as it shares its tails.

No question about it, there is something special about rustic cabins and lodges: stone fireplaces, original woodwork, classic views, and a peaceful charm you can't find anywhere else. And often you can't stay anywhere else nearby, as many of these lodges are the only accommodations for miles unless you decide to camp.

Step outside your busy city life and recharge without the hassle of setting up a tent, cooking your own food, and backpacking in your own booze. Treat yourself to a night in one of these great lodges of the west and make your own stories to pass on for generations.

*There are a number of amazing lodges and cabins that we have yet to add to Outdoor Project, but we're consistently updating our content. If you have a favorite lodge that is not on this list and you think it should be, let us know and we'll do our best to get it added.
