Holland Lake is a national forest recreation area little-known outside Montana, and it offers water recreation and hiking opportunities galore. There is a rustic lodge and a very nice campground along the lake.

Holland Lake Campground is divided into two distinct loops (Bay Loop and Larch Loop) about a half-mile apart, but both are along the lakeshore. The loops are similar, but the Bay Loop has a designated swimming area with a nice beach.

As would be expected, the most desirable campsites are the ones closest to the lake, but most of the campsites have a decent amount of space and privacy. Tents or small campers would be most at home here, given the narrow roads and lots of trees, but some sites will fit a moderate-sized RV. All sites are first-come, first-served, and the season extends from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

There are a lot of nice hikes in the area, including the ever-popular Holland Falls Trail, Holland Lookout Trail, and Upper Holland Lake.
